ANNOTATION

There have been revealed in the article the theoretical aspects of raising the level of rural population employ-ment. There has been carried out the analysis of the dynamics of the economically active rural population of Lviv region, the number of employed and unemployed, the number of those engaged in the agricultural sector, especially in farming. There is drawn a conclusion of the inefficient structure of the rural population employ-ment, which has a negative impact on the rural population living standards indices. The predominant engage-ment of the rural population in their own farms furthers the spread and reproduction of poverty in the rural are-as. Using the trend models there have been done forecasting calculation of the number of unemployed in the rural area of Lviv region and a number of those engaged in their private farms. There has been established that the preservation of the retrospective trends will not lead to any significant changes in the regional rural labour market. There has been developed the suggestions about the transformation of the rural population employment in the region under the investigation for its predominant part could beactivein nonagricultural kinds of business activi-ty, and a number of private farms should be reduced to the former size of the plots of land. There has been es-tablished that their amount should not exceed 0,10 ha with the view to one rural inhabitant. The freed plot sofland should be delivered possession to the agricultural enterprises, first of all, to the farming enterprises. This requires significant investments to the establishment of new workplaces in nonagricultural enterprises di-rectly in the villages and centers of the rural districts.
