ANNOTATION

The article declares that improvement of the level of well-being and living standards of Ukrainian population, preservation of natural resources for future generations, transition from raw material economy to the innovative path of development depend on conditions of recreational areas and development of eco-tourism. The main purpose of the study is to analyze the current state recreation areas in Ukraine, to identify and systemize the factors, shaping their attractiveness and recreational properties; to propose the ways to improve the ecological and economic mechanism of recreational areas functioning; to outline the prospects for development of tourism on recreational areas in Ukraine. This article explores that in the recent years we observe a 10 times fall in the flow of foreign tourists as compared to the index of 2000. The statistics indicates that, by the type of tourist entities, the most numerous category is made by travel agents, i.e. 80 %. The analysis of tourism activity in Ukraine confirms that the number of tourists, i.e. citizens of Ukraine, served by tourist entities during 2016, accounted for more than 2.5 million people and foreign tourists, i.e. 35 thousand people. The study of the current conditions of recreational territories in Ukraine has made it possible to single out a number of factors that impede the active development of the territories, namely underestimation of the importance of preventive measures, which can offer sanatoriums-preventive hospitals and an attempt to recover the lost positions at the market. It is achieved not due to development of the industry itself, but only through the attempt to reach more potential customers. The work proposes a number of measures to improve the situation of tourism development on the recreational territories, providing for the availability of sanatorium treatment due to active development of transport infrastructure and differentiation of the cost of treatment; to bring the current state of recreational facilities in Ukraine to the international norms and standards; to increase the overall demand for recreational area services by expanding their range of services.
