Organizational and institutional practices of strengthening the role of peasant farms in the food supply for population in the current conditions

ANNOTATION

The research proves relevance and institutional importance of peasant farms in providing food for the population under the complicated current conditions basing on the scientific positions, organizational principles and assessment of the contribution provided by the farming form to the agro-economic activity development.

The important position of peasant farms in the institutional system of the country and their characteristics are determined referring to their entrepreneurial status and non-business activities by applying the systemic approach. The authors prove the necessity to support peasant farms as a guaranty of food security, rural development and achievement of sustainable development goals for the period until 2030. Their growing institutional importance in the wartime conditions is determined.

The institutional and organizational factors of farming enterprises development in Ukraine and their importance for implementation of the sustainable principles of rural areas development are characterized. The guaranty of the country food security in the conditions of the fluctuations like destruction of a share of logistics chains and the irresistible effect from the cease of production development caused by the war is considered.

Due to the increase in the burden on the sector of family-type peasant farms caused by displacement of a great number of immigrants to the village, one observes active growth of the institute of self-sufficiency of population with food and the processes of finding business ideas by the peasants.

By analyzing of the production dynamics of the main types of agricultural products and food by farm categories, it was determined that changes in the indices of goods produced by households are less variable as compared to enterprises, which reflects the important institutional role of households in establishment of food security guaranty in the conditions characterized by constant fluctuations.

The study outlines the main tools for the peasant farms development and peculiarities of their implementation at the time of the threat to Ukraine's food security due to the martial law. The need for the further active development of farming-type peasant households as a guaranty of development of the population`s food self-sufficiency institution at the local level and the village development based on sustainable development is also proven.
